Peace
Yesterday Ella and I went to an exhibit against the war at the National Cathedral. This was an adventure in many, many things.

This was the first time that ella was in the National Cathedral. And since she is now taking a bottle it was the first time I have taken her so far from Rachel for so long.

We went and visited Grammie who was volunteering at the exhibit after a bit of a chilly walk from the street.

The world of weather and wind makes Ella laugh and scream, so outfitted with a hat and a crazy thick snow suit we braved the elements and had a nice little arctic walk up through the grounds of the national cathedral. And after a nice little visit we headed on home, with a rather dramatic detour at the Paci residence on Ivy street.
(Such a cute wearable baby. She looks like a starfish to me in that crazy backpack and snowsuit.)
Where we made a few strategic mistakes.
1. Don't try and move a sleeping baby. You will wake her. See number 2.
2. Don't wake a sleeping baby. Especially if she was only asleep for 20 minutes and it is nap time.
After doing both of these things, Paci and I proceeded to try and soothe ella for quite a while, she was very unhappy, with very wet tears rolling down her cheeks from the start.
I finally got her to take a bottle (a newly accepted form of feeding) and this seemed to help for a moment.
Then the diaper was notably swollen, so that had to come off, that seemed to help even further.
By this time the fireplace was rolling along nicely, which had some more soothing effect on our little Ella. And then it was time to load her back into the car where she promptly foldered herself into the smallest, most uncomfortably slumped over, sleeping baby, and was asleep within two blocks of leaving. Only to go home and pick up Rach and go get some good asian grocery produce. On the way home from the grocery we tried to keep Ella from falling asleep in the car so we wouldn't have to wake her yet again when taking her out of the car, we succeeded at this and got her home to some swaddle free nap time.
By the time it was over and we were back Ella and I had a 3+ hour adventure without Rachel. I don't know who missed who more, but Ella's eyes were definately more red than Rach's. We will do this again soon! She is so sweet and fun to take places. When the weather is a bit warmer we will go back to the grounds of the cathedral, they are beautiful, even in the bitter cold.
